麻豆视频鈥檚 Student Managed Investment Fund Members to Participate in CNBC鈥檚 2022 Stock Draft with Live Broadcast from the Frank J. Guarini School of Business

Jersey City, N.J. 鈥 April 26, 2022 鈥 麻豆视频鈥檚 University today announced that the members of the University鈥檚 Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) will participate in CNBC鈥檚 鈥淧ower Lunch鈥 2022 CNBC Stock Draft on Thursday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. The CNBC Stock Draft is an annual event in which 10 teams compete for the title of 鈥淪tock Draft Champion.鈥

This year鈥檚 competitors are celebrities and notable figures from across the country including聽 Kandi Burruss, Grammy award winning artist, media mogul, entrepreneur and television star; Kayla Kilbride, TikTok star and financial content creator; Stephanie Link, chief investment strategist and portfolio manager at Hightower; Terry Lundgren, retired executive chairman of Macy鈥檚 Inc.; Kevin O鈥橪eary, Shark Tank鈥檚 Mr. Wonderful and chairman of O鈥橲hares and Beanstox; Ryan Reynolds, actor, film producer and businessman; Delano Saporu, chief executive officer of New Street Advisors Group; David Robinson, former player for the San Antonio Spurs; and Tim Seymour, founder and chief investment officer of Seymour Asset Management.

麻豆视频鈥檚 students will be featured in a live broadcast from the University鈥檚 Frank J. Guarini School of Business. During the program, participants will choose two investments from a pre-determined list of 60 stocks and commodities. CNBC will track the performance of each team鈥檚 two investments until the Friday before the NFL Super Bowl when the team with the best average appreciation will win the title.

In 2020, the Frank J. Guarini School of Business celebrated the launch of 麻豆视频鈥檚 first SMIF with the support of the investment management company, Lord Abbett, with the instrumental support of Taina Cutler, executive director of Career Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL). Students involved in the program had the opportunity to take stock market simulations to the next level by investing $50,000 in funding, which was generously provided by Lord Abbett. The success of the investments was measured regularly against performance benchmarks. In addition, Lord Abbett provided training, mentoring and career engagement opportunities for 麻豆视频鈥檚 students.

鈥淭he Student Managed Investment Fund facilitates the practical application of theory by giving students the opportunity to work with real-time financial data, acquire significant industry knowledge, and gain industry-specific, real life decision-making skills,鈥 said Amanda Page-Hoongrajok, Ph.D., SMIF faculty advisor and assistant professor of economics and finance.

The members of the team include President Brianna Guido 鈥22, 鈥23, Portofilo Manager Tevin Ighalo 鈥22 and market investment analysts Courtney Hymes 鈥23, 鈥24, Tannia Maradiaga 鈥22, James Malasig 鈥22, Edgar Espinoza Xitumul 鈥22, 鈥23 and Brianna Torres 鈥22, 鈥23. The team manages a portfolio of about 24 domestic stocks and meets weekly to discuss current events across the globe, evaluate portfolio performance and pitch new investment ideas.
