Jersey City – High school sophomores and juniors may apply now to the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s College Summer Scholars Program and earn three college credits upon completion of the course of study. The program gives students an opportunity to learn from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s professors and to experience academic life at the collegiate level. The Summer Scholars classes meet from July 7 thru August 7 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am until noon. The classes will be conducted on a colloquium model: A one-day general meeting each Monday where students will listen to lectures and performances covering a broad range of disciplines will be followed by two days of individual class meetings. Summer Scholars may choose from a diverse set of courses, including Civilization and Disease, Bearing Witness to War and Genocide through History and Literature, Shakespeare: from the Page to the Stage, and Psychology and Literature.
Scholars are selected based on a variety of criteria including high school grade point average, class rank, standardized test scores, involvement in extracurricular and community activities, letter(s) of recommendation and an essay.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
