Jersey City: Author Adrian Wojnarowski who wrote The Miracle of St. Anthony: A Season with Coach Bob Hurley and Basketball’s Most Improbable Dynasty, sat for a public interview on Thursday, 11/15 in the Recreational Life Center/gym at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College, 2641 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ.
A book signing at the College’s Barnes & Noble bookstore immediately followed.
In 31 years as head basketball coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey, Bob Hurley won 22 state titles. St. Anthony’s, a tiny school, constantly on the edge of bankruptcy, is held together by a determined band of Felician nuns.
New Jersey sportswriter Wojnarowski chronicles St. Anthony’s 2003-04 season, which began with a group of players Hurley categorized as under motivated and unfocused. The season was a success, and four seniors all accepted scholarships to Division I basketball programs.
The interview was facilitated by Father Raymond Schroth, S.J. and members of the Class of 2011.
This event is part of the Freshman Common Reading Program activities
