Jersey City (December 2, 2005) — The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College Athletics Department and its Men’s Basketball team will honor George Jefferson prior to the Peacocks home opener against Monmouth on December 6. The tip-off is scheduled for 7pm at the Yanitelli Center. The ceremony will take place at approximately 6:40 pm.
Jefferson passed away on June 21, 2005. He had earned his degree from the College. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Leckie, along with his team and the Athletics Department, will present George’s mom with his diploma during the pregame ceremony.
There will also be a moment of silence for the Peacocks’ fallen teammate. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams have dedicated their seasons to George. The Peacocks are wearing a patch on their uniform with George’s #23. Members of both teams are wearing sneakers with George’s number sewn into them.
