May 14, 2003– Jersey City, NJ– �鶹��Ƶ’s College will host a Future Teachers Club conference on Thursday, May 15 for 150 students from 10 Hudson County high schools. �鶹��Ƶ’s Education Department professors Dr. Joe McLaughlin and Dr. Harry Harty created the organization. The conference, which begins at 10 a.m. and runs through a luncheon, will allow the students to learn about how education and student/teacher relationships have changed over the years. The two �鶹��Ƶ’s professors will utilize clips from motion pictures with education themes, including Dead Poet’s Society, made over the previous decades so the students can clearly identify how the profession has evolved. “There has been a change in teaching over the last 50 years and the movie clips will indicate that,” McLaughlin said. “We started this program because the College has a very successful education department with more than 2500 graduates currently teaching and we thought the area high schools could take advantage of our resources.” The participating schools are: North Bergen HS Ferris HS Hoboken HS Marist HS �鶹��Ƶ’s Prep HS Saint Dominic’s Academy Saint Aloysius HS Union Hill HS Hudson Catholic HS Weehawken HS �鶹��Ƶ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, �鶹��Ƶ’s has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
