{"id":64,"date":"2012-07-25T18:08:09","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T18:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saintpeters.edu\/residence-life\/?page_id=64"},"modified":"2012-12-14T19:39:03","modified_gmt":"2012-12-14T19:39:03","slug":"campus-safety-tips","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.saintpeters.edu\/residence-life\/current-students\/campus-safety-tips\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Safety Tips"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Â鶹ÊÓƵ&#8217;s University strives to make campus as safe as possible.\u00a0 Residents play a role in campus safety also, by being aware of their surroundings, and knowing some basic tips that they can use to maintain a safe and secure living environment.<\/p>\n<p>To help maintain a safe and secure residential community, follow these tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep the phone number of Campus Safety in your cell phone, or near your room phone.\u00a0 Their number is (201) 761-7400.<\/li>\n<li>Always lock your door, even if you intend to return shortly or are just going down the hall, to the bathroom, or to a friend&#8217;s room.\u00a0 It takes as little as 8 seconds for someone to enter your room, grab something, and leave.<\/li>\n<li>Lock all doors and windows when you are sleeping.\u00a0 The windows are especially important to lock for residents of 1st floor rooms, or windows that have access to fire escapes.<\/li>\n<li>Do not sign in people you do not know as guests into the residence halls.\u00a0 Do not allow strangers to enter the premises.\u00a0 Call Campus Safety immediately if there are any concerns about strangers on campus.<\/li>\n<li>If someone asks to use your phone for emergency purposes, offer to telephone for them instead of allowing them access to your residence and\/or possessions.<\/li>\n<li>Utilize a bank account instead of keeping large sums of money in your room.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your ATM\/Bank cards in a safe place.\u00a0 Never reveal your PIN number to anyone.\u00a0 Not even your best friend.<\/li>\n<li>Call Campus Safety if you see a man entering or leaving a women&#8217;s bathroom.\u00a0 Do not attempt to stop the individual yourself, always call for assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Never prop doors open, even for a short time.\u00a0 Especially fire doors.<\/li>\n<li>Report any suspicious behavior to a Residence Life staff member, or Campus Safety.\u00a0 Remember the individual&#8217;s appearance to relay to the approprite authorities.\u00a0 Do not confront the individual.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By following these tips, you can help reduce the possibilities for crime on campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Â鶹ÊÓƵ&#8217;s University strives to make campus as safe as possible.\u00a0 Residents play a role in campus safety also, by being aware of their surroundings, and knowing some basic tips that they can use to maintain a safe and secure living environment.
