An important annual event, the Scholarship Information Session Luncheon allows students to connect with the donors who have made their educational journey possible through their philanthropy. This year was the seventh annual occurrence of the event where students express gratitude to donors through hand-written notes.<\/p>\n
A number of the seniors at the event have already begun to take graduate classes at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s. Jasmine Boone \u201918, a sociology major who attended the event, is taking graduate courses in the master\u2019s program in public administration while working on her bachelor\u2019s degree. She hopes to become a policy analyst. Jonathan Rivera \u201918, who is the recipient of The Hyjek Family Endowed Scholarship, is doing the same, but is working on his M.B.A. \u201cMy generous donor makes it possible for me to focus on my education without having to worry about debt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As the first in her family to attend college, Rolanda Holder \u201920, is incredibly grateful for The Alice & Francis X. Hagan Endowed Scholarship that helped make her education possible. \u201cI am the first in my family to attend college, the first to receive a scholarship and the first to make the dean\u2019s list,\u201d said the public policy and urban studies major.<\/p>\n
Alexandra Bernal \u201920 is double majoring in psychology and sociology and she hopes to go on to law school when she graduates; she is one of the recipients of The William H. Hannon Foundation Annual Scholarship. \u201cI am very grateful for the scholarship I received and I hope to pay it forward in the future,\u201d said Bernal. \u201cMy goal is to become a lawyer to protect abused children in underserved communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
