Shantia Beku \u201917 started her radio journey freshman year when she began working at WSPR Radio. Over the years, she was promoted to station manager and president. Since September, she has been interning at Power 105.1 on the morning show \u201cThe Breakfast Club,\u201d and because of her strong networking skills, bright personality and dedication, she was able to bring one of the show\u2019s famous co-hosts\u2014Charlamagne Tha God\u2014to campus to discuss his new book, Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It.\u00a0<\/em>In the book, he\u00a0shared his unlikely success story as well as how embracing one\u2019s truths is a fundamental key to success and happiness.\u00a0Beku, otherwise known as Shantia B., moderated the conversation and Q & A. Following the event, Charlamagne met with a line of 200 students to sign copies of his book and take pictures.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the greatest era to create your own opportunity,\u201d Charlamagne said. \u201cI have to constantly learn and evolve with my relationship with myself. When you have a good relationship with yourself you know when you are doing something wrong or right,\u201d he continued. Charlamagne\u2019s story was inspiring as he encouraged students to work hard\u00a0and pursue their dreams.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have truly learned a lot being at \u2018The Breakfast Club\u2019 and I really wanted students to feel inspired and empowered by his story,\u201d Beku said.<\/p>\n
