Jersey City, N.J. \u2013 January 21, 2015 –<\/strong> Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University today announced the creation of the University\u2019s external advisory board for the master\u2019s program in public administration. The advisory board exists to advise, assist, support and advocate for this graduate program. Members are volunteers who share an expert knowledge and will serve as a sounding board for senior University executives as a body that can inspire change.<\/p>\n

The members of the board include Nicholas Chiaravallotti, J.D., director of the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University; Joseph Doria, Jr., Ed.D., dean of the School of Education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University and former speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly; Robert Gordon, New Jersey state senator; Ronnie Hakim, executive director of NJ Transit; Maria Nieves, president of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce; Paul Silverman, principal of SILVERMAN; and Richard Turner, mayor of Weehawken.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very fortunate to have an advisory board with a state lawmaker, an agency head with more than 10,000 employees, the former speaker of the state assembly, a public policy researcher, a real estate developer, the leader of a civic institution and a mayor with extensive experience with federal, state and local government,\u201d said Philip Mark Plotch, Ph.D., director of the master\u2019s program in public administration at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University. \u201cThe University is delighted to have so many experienced people with such broad perspectives collaborating about how to make our successful master\u2019s program in public administration even stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

The master\u2019s program in public administration at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s prepares graduates with the knowledge and skills required of successful public servants, non-profit workers and private sector employees working toward the public good. Graduates of the program will be qualified for many roles including work in federal, local and state government, non-profit organizations, research organizations, lobbying groups, labor organizations, academia, public policy management and a host of other organizations. The advisory board will provide recommendations regarding curriculum, research topics, strategic partners, internships, career opportunities and labor market needs and trends.<\/p>\n
