Jersey City, N.J. \u2013 April 29, 2014 –<\/strong> Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University today announced that for the first time it has been included in \u201cThe Princeton Review\u2019s Annual Guide to 332 Green Colleges,\u201d now in its fifth edition. A presence on this list means Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s is one of the 332 most environmentally responsible colleges in the United States and Canada, according to The Princeton Review, an education services company known for its test prep programs and college rankings, ratings and guidebook profiles. The guide is published in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council\u2019s Center for Green Schools and salutes colleges that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the environment and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Colleges and universities are ranked with a \u201cGreen Rating\u201d score ranging from 60 to 99. The score is based on the institution\u2019s environmental and sustainability-related policies, practices and academic offerings. All schools that earn a score of 83 or higher are included in \u201cThe Princeton Review\u2019s Guide to 332 Green Colleges\u201d, which is available to be downloaded at www.princetonreview.com\/green-guide<\/a> and www.centerforgreenschools.org\/greenguide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the guide\u2019s profile on Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University, The Princeton Review highlights the University\u2019s new undergraduate major in environmental science and major in biology with a concentration in environmental science. The profile also features the sustainability-oriented student groups such as Students Against Violating the Earth (SAVE) and the Junkyard Dogs.\u00a0 The Mac Mahon Student Center, which is a LEED-Silver building, is also highlighted along with previous green projects at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s including the implementation of 100 percent renewable energy generated by wind power as the sole source of purchased electricity and the University\u2019s Climate Action Plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to recommend Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University to the many students seeking colleges that practice and promote environmentally-responsible choices and practices,\u201d said Rob Franek, senior vice president and publisher of The Princeton Review. “Among 10,116 college applicants who participated in our 2014 ‘College Hopes & Worries Survey,’ 61 percent said having information about a school\u2019s commitment to the environment would influence their decision to apply to or attend the school.”<\/p>\n
