In addition to a large freshman class, Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s is welcoming more than 100 transfer students this semester and is experiencing increased numbers in housing with more than 750 students in residence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtensive research and surveys indicated that colleges would expect lower enrollment in this academic year and we are incredibly proud that Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s is moving in a positive direction against this downward trend,\u201d said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University. \u201cWhile there is not a singular reason behind this growth, there are a number of factors that have contributed to the increase such as greater innovation in academic programs, University status, the opening of the Mac Mahon Student Center, new enrollment strategies and the effective and efficient efforts of our financial aid team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In March 2012 Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s College became Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University, which has expanded market recognition for the University as a comprehensive institution offering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. In March 2013 the Mac Mahon Student Center opened its doors, virtually transforming the University\u2019s Jersey City campus. The nearly 90,000-square-foot, six-story facility now serves as a home for dining, fitness, learning and socializing. Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s also offers scholarships and grants that make the University one of the most affordable private colleges and universities in the region.
