Jersey City, N.J.<\/strong> – Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s University is pleased to announce that transfer student enrollment is on the rise. The University reports 110 transfer students this semester, which is significantly higher than previous years, and 43 percent higher than the 2011 academic year. <\/p>\n

“Given today’s economic climate, current and future students have a greater awareness of the cost of a college education,” said Jeffrey Handler, vice president for enrollment and marketing at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s University. “A growing number of students are finding that spending two years at a community college and moving on to a four-year institution is a more affordable option. This is a trend that is likely to continue and we are extremely pleased that these transfer students find Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s to be the right fit for them to continue their education.”<\/p>\n

Community colleges make up the largest portion of the postsecondary education segment and that the student population in community colleges is expected to grow. Additionally, a majority of community college students have the ultimate goal of obtaining a bachelor’s degree when they enroll in an associate’s degree program. As a result of this trend, transfer students continue to be a focus for enrollment at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s University. <\/p>\n

The new transfer students at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s come from more than fifty different colleges and universities. Many of the students are graduates of community colleges throughout New Jersey with a large majority coming from Hudson County Community College. Some of the new students also transferred from four-year institutions such as Fordham University, Drew University, Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and more. In addition, the group of transfer students also includes adult learners that found Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s University to be an excellent education choice to advance their careers. The students have enrolled in 27 different academic programs ranging from accounting to physical therapy to marketing management.<\/p>\n

“Our transfer student population is made up of dedicated learners who bring new and diverse life experiences to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s community,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s University. “We are delighted to welcome them and pleased with this increase, which speaks to the efforts of our admission and enrollment teams for making the application and enrollment process so seamless for our incoming transfer students.”<\/p>\n
