Jersey City, NJ –<\/strong> Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College and the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Newark College of Engineering will now offer a five-year dual-degree program in physics and electrical engineering.  Marylou Yam, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs for Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College, and Sunil Saigal, Ph.D., the dean of NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering, signed the agreement on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Jersey City campus. <\/p>\n

The dual-degree program will allow undergraduate students to attain a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from NJIT.  Students will spend their first two years at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s, their third year taking courses at both colleges, and their last two years at NJIT.<\/p>\n

“The partnership affords Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s students the opportunity to acquire cutting-edge knowledge in the fields of physics and electrical engineering,” noted Dr. Yam.<\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s physics program aims to develop well-rounded physicists with a comprehensive grasp of the principles of physics. The program also emphasizes the concepts and techniques that have led to the most recent understanding of the physical universe.<\/p>\n

NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering prepares engineering students to use science, mathematics, technology and problem-solving skills to design, construct, test and maintain products, services and information systems. <\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City with a branch campus in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.<\/p>\n
