Jersey City<\/span><\/strong> – Well known theologian and educator Dean Brackley, S.J. spoke at a lecture sponsored by The Office of Mission & Ministry.  <\/span>The lecture titled “Immigrants,Illegals of God’s Ambassadors?” focused on the <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dean Brackley was born in upstate New York in 1946.  <\/span>He entered the Jesuit order in 1964 and was ordained a priest in 1976.  <\/span>He received his doctorate in theological ethics at the University of Chicago in 1980.  <\/span>In the 1970’s and 80’s, Brackley worked in social ministry and popular education on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and in the South Bronx.  <\/span>He taught briefly at Fordham University before joining the staff of the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in El Salvador, Central America in 1990, where he has taught theology and ethics until the present.  <\/span>He is currently pastor of the UCA’s university parish.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Father Brackley published works include Divine Revolution<\/em>: Salvation and Liberation in Catholic Thought <\/em>and the newly released The Call to Discernment in Troubled Times<\/em>: New Perspectives on the Transformative Wisdom of Ignatius Loyola<\/em>, which received an award from the Catholic Press Association in 2005.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.<\/span><\/p>\n
