Jersey City – On Wednesday November 28, at 1:00, alumnus John Galbraith will speak to the community about the work of the Catholic Medical Mission Board, CMMB, to provide relief to people suffering with AIDS throughout the world. The CMMB was founded by Jesuits in 1928, and works collaboratively to provide quality healthcare programs and services, without discrimination, to people in need around the world. Mr. Galbraith is President and CEO of the CMMB. <\/p>\n
Mr. Galbraith’s talk is part of the third annual HIV Awareness Program held on campus in recognition of World AIDS Day. The program, which is sponsored by the Criminal Justice Department, will run from 10:00 until 3:00, and will feature speakers, a documentary film and fundraisers to benefit HIV charities. <\/p>\n
At 10:00, a person living with HIV will address the challenges of living with the virus, and the profound impact the virus has had on him and his family. At 11:00, Rory Kennedy’s acclaimed documentary "Pandemic" will be shown. At 12:00, a Pizza and Pasta lunch will be available for purchase to benefit HIV\/AIDS charities. At 2:00 the Hyacinth Foundation will give a presentation about transmission of HIV. Additionally, HIV tests will be given by Hyacinth and Horizon’s mobile testing units. All events will take place in the McIntyre Rooms, and the entire college community was encouraged to attend. <\/p>\n
