Jersey City<\/span> – <\/span>Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College has implemented SPC Security Alerts, an emergency notification system intended to inform the College Community of imminent threats to security.  <\/span>In the event of an emergency an <\/span>SPC Security Alert will be sent to all registered cell phones via a text message.  <\/span>The message will state the type of threat and indicate suggested action. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Although participation is optional the College strongly urges ALL students, faculty and staff to enroll their text message capable cell phones<\/strong> at www.spc.edu\/Alerts<\/a>.  <\/span>According to Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Director of Security, Arthur J. Youmans, “Providing a secure learning, living and working environment for students and employees often requires sharing information quickly and broadly. Given the prevalence of cell phones on campus and the speed at which an urgent message can be received text messaging is a valuable tool.”  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While SPC Security Alerts is only one of the communication vehicles employed by Campus Safety it undoubtedly will contribute to better emergency preparedness and response to crisis situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in <\/span>Jersey City<\/span>.
