Jersey City, NJ – The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College Athletics Department will induct six individuals and two teams into its Athletics Hall of Fame in a ceremony on October 13, 2007 on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College Campus.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The six individuals being inducted include men’s basketball player Luis Arrosa, women’s basketball player\/coach Maureen Guilfoyle, women’s basketball player Felicia Harris, cross country\/track runner Katie Kobacz and men’s tennis player Alan Peyrouton. Cross Country Coach Bob Oppici will be inducted as an Honorary Member and US Congressman Albio Sires will be receiving the Special Achievement Award.<\/div>\n

For the first time in the Hall of Fame’s history, two teams will be inducted. The 1979-80 Men’s Basketball went 22-9 under first year head coach Bob Dukiet and reached the third round of the NIT, defeating Connecticut and Duquesne on the road, before falling to UNLV in Las Vegas. The Peacocks were led by Kevin Rogers, Mark Murphy and William Brown, who each averaged more than 12ppg. The team went 12-0 at home that season and also reached the Championship Game of the ECAC Tournament. Four players from the team have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame.<\/div>\n

The 1981-82 Women’s Basketball team will go down in history as the first champion of the then newly formed Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Peahens went 25-5 and won the MAAC Regular Season title with a 5-0 mark. They then swept through the MAAC Tournament, defeating Manhattan and Army on their way to their first NCAA Tournament Appearance in program history. Head Coach Mike Granelli was named MAAC Coach of the Year and Sheri Lauyer was named MAAC Player of the Year after leading the Peahens with 15.9ppg and 9.1rpg. Four players on the team along with Coach Granelli have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame.<\/div>\n
