EXHIBIT AT NEW JERSEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY RECOGNIZES SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE INVOLVEMENT IN 9\/11\/01 RESCUE EFFORTS<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

October 28, 2002<\/em>— Jersey City, NJ – The New Jersey Historical Society is currently featuring an exhibit, Changed Lives: New Jersey Remembers September 11, 2001, at its Newark facility. The presentation includes a section on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College “Ice Brigade,” a group of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College students and staff who immediately responded to emergency calls for supplies by delivering pounds of ice to Ground Zero. <\/font><\/p>\n

“The College security department received a call that day from the Jersey City Police Department asking for our assistance,” Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Director of Public Safety Russ Hoffman said. “It was an awful day, made even tougher because the World Trade Towers were clearly visible from our campus. But the College community responded immediately to the call to action. Those efforts will always be remembered in photos of the ‘Ice Brigade.’” <\/font><\/p>\n

These photographs are included among other items of personal testimony, objects, art, and photographs which serve as a tribute to New Jersey’s response to the tragedy. The New Jersey Historical Society is located at 52 New Park Place in Newark. The free exhibition remains open until December 2 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday-through-Saturday. <\/font><\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City and a branch campus, specializing in adult education, is located in Englewood Cliffs.
