SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE 3 ANNUAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYMPOSIUM WILL FOCUS ON INTELLIGENCE GATHERING IN THE WAR ON TERRORISM<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P> TWO-DAY EVENT WILL FEATURE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL March 18, 2003– Jersey City, NJ– Ritchie Martinez, President of the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts and Lt. Col. Juan Mattos, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations for the New Jersey State Police will headline the third annual Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College Stephen D. Doyle Criminal Justice Symposium on March 26-27. The symposium, sponsored by the Guarini Center for International and Public Affairs, will feature a variety of speakers with expertise on intelligence matters.<\/FONT><\/P> The Symposium opens at 10 a.m. on March 26 with a demonstration of the analytical products currently being used in the War on Terrorism. Stephen Shirley of MEMEX, Inc., Chris Sandeys of i2 and Scott Peacock of In-Tel-Tec will present some of the latest analytical models being used by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in the war on terrorism.<\/FONT><\/P> Martinez, who heads the world’s oldest and largest consortium of law enforcement personnel with members from 22 countries, will speak at 11 a.m. on the history and future of law enforcement intelligence gathering and analysis.<\/FONT><\/P> Lt. Col. Mattos will open the conference’s second day with a 10 a.m. discussion on the changing role of the New Jersey State Police. <\/FONT><\/P> The final symposium presentation will be held at 1 p.m., when a representative from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Food and Drug Administration, discusses the agency’s role in protecting the region’s food and water from terrorism. Immediately following this session, an informal reception bringing together speakers, members of the college community, and the general public will be held.<\/FONT><\/P> The conference is named in honor of Mr. Stephen D. Doyle, the Professor Emeritus of Sociology who was instrumental in the development of the Criminal Justice Major at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College.<\/FONT><\/P> Presentations will be held in the Pope Lecture Hall on Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Jersey City campus.
