Jon Shure of NJ Policy Perspective Will Speak At Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s College February 20, 2003– Jersey City, NJ– Jon Shure, President of the New Jersey Policy Perspective, will speak at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s College on Thursday, February 27 at 1 p.m. about New Jersey\u2019s political, cultural and financial fragmentation. His discussion is part of the Guarini Center for International and Public Affairs lecture series. The free event will be held in Pope Lecture Hall. Shure, a former journalist with The Record and longtime political expert, believes the Garden State\u2019s divisions have prevented it thriving. His talk is entitled, \u201cThe Need to Think Bigger in New Jersey: Can a State Become a Community.\u201d Shure has been with New Jersey Policy Prospective since it\u2019s founding in 1997. Shure previously served as Communication Director for New Jersey Governor Jim Florio and spent time as a Vice President at the Century Foundation. He is currently a Visiting Associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. He is the third speaker in the series that will conclude on March 27 when Dr. Mario Pecheny from the Argentine branch of the Panamerican Health Organization visits the College. The Guarini Center for International and Public Affairs was established in 1994 to provide a non-partisan forum for the thoughtful discussion of public policy issues and to interest students in pursuing careers in public service. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City and a branch campus, specializing in adult education, is located in Englewood Cliffs.
