Social Justice Program’s First Annual Arts & Music Festival Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College on Kennedy Blvd. inJersey City will hold its first Music and Arts Festival on Friday, September 26 from11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the College’s Roy Irving Theater. Internationally acclaimed recording artist Ruth Gerson will highlight the event. She will play her unique brand of folk rock from11 a.m.-Noon. Other musicians to perform include Jersey City’s Carol Lester – a recording artist with songs on TV, radio and film – as well as Paul Page and Bob Albrecht. The event is free. Due to the arrival that night of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, parking will be at a premium and attendees are urged to walk or utilize public transportation. For more information, call 201-915-4963 Brazilian Capoeira & Batizado Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College will host a Brazilian Capoeira and Batizado on Saturday, September 27 from1-4 p.m. in the College’s Yanitelli Center. More than 200 practitioners from more than 15 states and Brazil will participate in the Capoeira event. Capoeira is the 450-year-old Brazilian martial arts. The event will include performances, an “inauguration” for newcomers to Capoeira, Samba and Brazilian music and dance. Admission is free for students, faculty and staff.
