\"\"<\/a>Jersey City, N.J. \u2013 January 17, 2024 –<\/strong>Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University today announced that its Board of Trustees have been selected to receive the John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership<\/a> by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB<\/a>). AGB and its mission partner TIAA<\/a> present the Nason Award, established in 1992, to higher education governing boards that demonstrate exceptional leadership and initiative.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s honorees were chosen from a diverse array of nominations illustrating the essential work of boards from four-year public and private colleges and universities, two-year institutions and institutionally related foundations.<\/p>\n

The Nason Award recognizes the leadership of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University Board of Trustees in successfully navigating recent higher education challenges, notably those exacerbated by the global pandemic. Inspired by Magis<\/em>\u2014a Jesuit principle of striving for the better and for excellence\u2014the Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s Board leveraged a new strategic plan to expand enrollment and diversify revenue; implemented financial measures that provided greater operating flexibility and supported three major capital projects and the most successful fundraising campaign in University history; and adopted leading governance practices while reaffirming the mission commitment to diversity.<\/p>\n

\u201cÂ鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s progress, amid the current challenges of running an institution in this difficult higher education environment, has solidified my view of the University as a special place,\u201d said Kenneth Moore, CFA \u201991, chair of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University Board of Trustees. \u201cÂ鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s is characterized by a high level of dedication across the faculty and staff and led by talented and committed trustees who give the most treasured resource of time so that the University remains the exceptional place it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s is one of four institutions receiving this year\u2019s Nason Award. Other recipients include the Babson College Board of Trustees, Oakton College Educational Foundation Board of Directors and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike presidents and other higher education leaders, governing boards are constantly looking for inspiring stories to celebrate, emulate and reflect on,\u201d said Ellen Chaffee, AGB interim president and CEO. \u201cThe selection committee felt these four nominations deserved recognition for the work they have done for their students, their communities, and their institutions and foundations. I am deeply impressed by the honorees\u2019 achievements, and I look forward to seeing where they go next.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nason Award is named for higher education leader John W. Nason, who served as the chair of the National Japanese American Student Relocation Council and helped more than 4,000 interned students continue their college studies across the nation during World War II.
