The Rising Star Award was developed to annually recognize up to 10 outstanding women approaching mid-level careers who have demonstrated outstanding promise for contributions to their respective fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDr. Badiei\u2019s dedication to research, teaching and community outreach is remarkable and her recognition as a Rising Star by the American Chemical Society is well-deserved,\u201d said Frederick Bonato, Ph.D, executive vice president and provost at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University. \u201cHer contributions to the scientific world and her commitment to nurturing future STEM leaders are a source of immense pride for all of us at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Badiei actively performs research with undergraduate students at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s. Her research interests are in molecular catalysis, inorganic and organic synthesis, coordination chemistry, water-oxidation, electrode fabrication and catalyst immobilization for making sustainable energy fuels. Dr. Badiei is also the co-PI of the NSF Robert NOYCE grant which aims at recruiting and preparing STEM students to pursue a career in teaching K-12. She is also involved in an NSF and U.S. Department of Education HSI grant at Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s, which aims at connecting and involving students in career and research opportunities. Dr. Badiei is also actively working on outreach projects with high school communities to enhance their learning experience of energy and sustainability topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Badiei obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry in 2009 from Georgetown University and was the recipient of the Harold Glassman Award for Best Dissertation in Sciences in 2010.
