The lecture, \u201c<em>The Human Difference: How Evolution Fashioned the Earth\u2019s Most Extraordinary Creature,<\/em>\u201d will explain how the evolutionary process can be seen in the context of faith.<\/p>\n<p>Kenneth&nbsp;R. Miller&nbsp;is a biology professor at Brown University and President of the National Center for Science Education. In addition to his research work in cell biology, he has written extensively on evolution and in 2005 served as lead witness in the Kitzmiller v. Dover trial on evolution and intelligent design. His books include a popular series of high school biology textbooks as well as&nbsp;<em>Finding Darwin\u2019s God: A Scientist\u2019s Search for Common Ground between God and Evolution<\/em><span>&nbsp;<\/span>(1999),&nbsp;<em>Only a Theory: Evolution and the Battle for America\u2019s Soul<\/em><span>&nbsp;<\/span>(2008) and&nbsp;<em>The Human Instinct: How we evolved to have Reason, Consciousness, and Free Will<\/em><span>&nbsp;<\/span>(2018).&nbsp;&nbsp;His honors include the Public Understanding of Science Award from AAAS, the Stephen Jay Gould Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution, the Gregor Mendel Medal from Villanova University and the Laetare Medal from Notre Dame University.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n<p>For more than 150 years,<span>&nbsp;<\/span><strong>Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University<\/strong>, inspired by its Jesuit, Catholic identity, commitment to individual attention and grounding in the liberal arts, educates a diverse community of learners in undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional programs to excel intellectually, lead ethically, serve compassionately and promote justice in our ever-changing urban and global environment.
