Jersey City, NJ (March 28, 2005) The Fifth Annual Stephen D. Doyle Criminal Justice Symposium will take place on Thursday, March 31 st. The lecture series brings together academics and professionals from the private and public sector to discuss key security issues. Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale will speak at 11 a.m. in the Pope Lecture Hall about the balance between security concerns and civil liberties. Sheriff Speziale previously served with New York City Police Department’s Organized Crime Control Bureau and the Federal Drug Enforcement Task Force. He was the youngest first grade detective in NYPD history. Sheriff Speziale will be inducted into the College’s Delta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, The National Criminal Justice Honor Society, as an Honorary Member in a ceremony following his address. <\/p>\n
At 1 p.m. , Major General Robert Hollingsworth (USMCR-Ret.), Executive Director of the Department of Defense Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Program, will present Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College with the “National Seven Seals Award.” The award honors Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College for its support of students and other members of the College community who have been to called to active duty in the past year. The conference is named after Stephen D. Doyle, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s. Fr.
