Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to Visit Campus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jersey City, N.J. \u2013 March 30, 2022 \u2013<\/strong> Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University is proud to announce plans for its Founders\u2019 Week celebration in honor of the 150th anniversary of April 3, 1872, the day Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s was granted its charter from the State of New Jersey. The celebration will begin with a Mass on Sunday, April 3 and will continue with additional activities throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout the academic year we have been hosting events and programming commemorating our 150th anniversary as it is a tremendous milestone in Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s history,\u201d said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University. \u201cThe University community is incredibly excited for the Founders\u2019 Week celebration as it is the peak of our Sesquicentennial planning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Mass on April 3 will take place at 1:00 p.m. at St. Aedan\u2019s: The Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s University Church and will be hosted in conjunction with Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s Preparatory School, also celebrating its 150th anniversary, and the Â鶹ÊÓƵ\u2019s Jesuit community. Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, will serve as the guest celebrant. Cardinal Tobin will also receive an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, honoris causa from the University. A Sesquicentennial celebration will immediately follow in the Mac Mahon Student Center.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, April 6, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will address the students, faculty, staff, administrators and friends of Â鶹ÊÓƵ&#8217;s University at 11:00 a.m. in The Duncan Family Sky Room.
