Jersey City , NJ (November 8, 2005) – Nobel Peace Prize nominee and peace activist Kathy Kelly will speak at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s College on Thursday, November 10 at noon as part of the Social Justice Program Lecture Series. The lecture is free and open to the public. “Kathy Kelly is well-recognized for her efforts against war, violence and human rights violations here in the United States and around the world,” said Dr. Anna Brown, a professor of political science at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s College and organizer of the lecture series. Kelly will discuss her latest book, Other Lands Have Dreams: from Baghdad to Pekin Prison.
She helped to organize the Voices in the Wilderness, a campaign designed to end sanctions against Iraq . Kelly has also protested against violence and human rights violations in Haiti , Bosnia and the West Bank . Kelly has received numerous awards and honors including the Dan Berrigan Award from DePaul University and the Archbishop Oscar Romero Award from Mercyhurst College . She earned her B.A. from Loyola University in Chicago and a Masters in Religious Education from the Chicago Theological Seminary.
