The Department of English offers a major in <\/span>literature (including American, British, and World Literature in English), as well an English minor and courses and minors in Theatre, Creative Writing and Publishing (offered jointly with the Departments of Arts and Communication and Media Studies), and Film Studies (offered jointly with the Department of Communication and Media Studies).<\/p>\n

Requirements for the English Major<\/span><\/h2>\n

Degree of Bachelor of Arts<\/span><\/h3>\n

Six of the required credits for the major may count towards the Core Curriculum Requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/colgroup>

Special Notes on English Literature Major Requirements<\/span><\/h4>\n

A student should earn a 2.5 average in the core courses to be accepted as an English major. Majors must maintain a 2.5 average in department courses. Students may petition to waive these requirements under special circumstances.<\/span><\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/table>\n
