�鶹��Ƶ’s English Department Attends Performance of Richard III

On the evening of Friday, March 13, English department professor Rachel Wifall, Ph.D., along with Writing Studies instructor Constance Wagner, M.A., took a group of students and faculty to see William Shakespeare’s Richard III at the Nimbus Arts Center in downtown Jersey City. The production starred Andrew Sellon, a longtime friend of the English Department.

�鶹��Ƶ’s English Department Leads Spring Break Travel Class

For Spring Break 2026, English department professor Rachel Wifall, Ph.D., along with Writing Studies instructor Constance Wagner, M.A., led the travel class, “Literary and Historical Travels: Greece”. They studied the history of Greece and its influential mythological and literary traditions. At the same time, analyzed a selection of literature from ancient times as well as contemporary adaptations of it. They visited Athens, Olympia, Delphi, Kalambaka, Meteora, and experienced ancient theaters and holy sites, as well as a Mediterranean island tour of three beautiful islands in the Saronic Gulf: Poros, Hydra & Aegina.

On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, �鶹��Ƶ’s University proudly welcomed composer and writer Will Aronson, who spoke to the university community about writing and the creative process. Arson is a three-time Tony Award winner (Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Musical) for his musical Maybe Happy Ending.

On March 13, 2025, �鶹��Ƶ’s University proudly welcomed poet Dr. Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, who teaches English, Creative Writing, and American Catholic Studies at Fordham University and serves as Associate Director of the Curran Center for American Catholic Studies. She spoke to the university community as part of the annual Valente-Blihar Families Distinguished Poet Series.

“Literary Travels: Visions of Italy”

Over the spring break of 2025, the English Department took a group of twenty-six current students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to Italy for “Literary Travels: Visions of Italy.” Among trip highlights was a guided tour of the Opera del Duomo Museum in Florence, hosted by museum designer and director–and �鶹��Ƶ’s alumnus of 1968–Monsignor Timothy Verdon. In Rome, Taylor Fulkerson, SJ, gave the group a tour of the rooms of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and the Chiesa del Gesu, where he is buried.

One-Act Play Festival

On Thursday, February 21, 2025 Writing Studies and English Department instructor Constance Wagner, M.A. a group of students from playwriting and composition classes attended a performance of five plays at the Short Play Festival — LUV 2025 at the The Players Theatre in New York City’s West Village. The LUV 2025 Short Play Festival showcases 5 plays weekly for three weeks in February that celebrate love in all its forms. One of the featured works was the play Choices written by Prof. Constance Wagner.
